MICROLAB is a new VUB Core Facility that is gradually starting up in 2026.
It is a 300 m² class 1000 cleanroom, equipped with the latest state-of-the art equipment for advanced microfabrication of glass and silicon. It is an open access facility supporting both the research community and industry in the development of microfluidic devices for medical, pharmaceutical and biotechnological applications.
MICROLAB is located at the VUB Etterbeek Campus, Centre of Brussels, Belgium.

MICROLAB at POCT 2026
MICROLAB hosted a booth at the POCT 2026 Symposium in Antwerp on March 26, 2026, showcasing how microfabrication can be used for point-of-care diagnostics. MICROLAB is a Flanders Chips Competence Centre (FC3), supporting the EU Chips Act.
MICROLAB at BioFIT/MedFIT 2025
Operational Manager Filip Legein presented MICROLAB at BioFIT/MedFIT 2025 in Strasbourg, a unique event bringing together academics and industry.
HaloFreeEtch General Assembly at VUB MICROLAB
On March 5-6, 2025, the VUB MicroFlow Cell hosted the General Assembly of the HaloFreeEtch project. In this EIC Pathfinder project, MicroFlow Cell cooperates with TU Chemnitz, PlasmaSolve, Fraunhofer ENAS, Uni Graz, LioniX International and Warrant Hub.
